Harmful Effects of Environmental Toxins
Written by Neena Dayal, neena@wordpep.com
Many research studies have pointed out the harmful effects of environmental toxins from time to time. In keeping with the US President Barrack Obama’s efforts in this direction, the President’s Cancer Panel released a report, which pointed out several harmful effects of environmental toxins. The main reason for this 240 – page report to catch the attention is that it is strongly worded and directly blames the government to not take adequate actions by way of exploring through enough research as well as by implementation of good environmental practices.
There are several opinions regarding the outcome that will finally be achieved with this report. But there are several steps that need to be taken urgently by the people if they wish to save themselves from the damage by environmental toxins.
Environmental toxins are just about everywhere. They are in the soil in which our crops are grown. They are in our water, which we drink, irrigate our crops with, and use for so many other things. We eat these chemicals. We drink them. We breathe them. We bathe with them. We use them to cleanse; with little or no knowledge about what harm they can cause us. There are absolutely no ways in the modern lifestyle, which can help us get rid of these chemicals. The people who are less strong, or are more prone get affected more and start suffering from quite a few diseases, including cancer
The question is how to get rid of the chemicals in environmental toxins? Many doctors regularly recommend bio-detoxification to be done annually, at the least, if not more often. This is mandatory in order to get rid of the excessive toxins.
The chemical overload that we face today has not been substantially studied. There is a great possibility that every chemical that is marked as harmless may be followed by an army of those about which we just do not have any information. Chances are that they may be extremely harmful.
Cancer is perhaps the most gravely known fear, which is associated with environmental toxins. But, there are many physiological damages about which there is hardly any talk. Some chemicals cause situations with sensory perceptions, breathing issues, headaches, joint pains, other chronic and ‘unexplained’ pains and auto-immune disorders. This is an endless list.
There is a lot of increase in unexplained situations these days. You hardly find anyone who is not suffering from some puzzling medical issue or the other. They are puzzling because they remain unsolved. Most of these can be attributed to environmental toxins, although not with any kind of definitiveness because of lack of research. But, the medical practitioners know it with their gut feel. Unfortunately, this does not count as enough ‘evidence’
Free radical damage is the biggest culprit these days. To counteract it, antioxidants have to be taken. Antioxidants can be introduced through good dietary practices. But there is a possibility that even fruits and vegetables are riddled with chemicals. Hence, taking supplements is quite a necessity. Introducing green tea in the diet also helps.
The only option is to take care of reducing chemicals from your life. Try using organic fruits and vegetables. Try using things, which have no chemicals or at least are less on chemicals, like instead of pesticides use natural pest killers like peppermint, rosemary and thyme oil, with a small amount of alcohol. These options work wonders too and have no toxic chemicals.
Environmental Toxins cause distinctive damage. Save yourself the exposure as much as possible.
