Every area on earth has had groups of people living and thriving off the land for centuries. Thus you should take your cues from these groups. They have been using the foods from the local lands using many recipes perfected over the years. The result is healthy foods that taste good and fulfill your nutritional needs. It is possible to prepare the same foods in many various ways to satisfy particular tastes.
The best way to eat naturally, therefore, is to eat mainly the foods that are located locally to your area. These foods are as fresh as possible since they have been grown close by. There is no time needed to transport the foods nor is there any need to add preservatives to them since they can be easily cooked promptly.
Take a look at the ancestors of the area. The tribes that occupied the land were adept at living from the land. They not only had to survive but they had to thrive. They ate the best and most nutritious foods that helped them become strong and healthy. While these tribes are no longer here you can learn a lesson from their eating habits. They had no grocery stores to purchase foods. Instead they ate from the land.
In the days gone by people ate from the land using the best foods they could find. They ate both meats and plants when they could find them. They cultivated food crops and learned to eat the healthiest parts of the plants. Then they kept livestock in order to provide a healthy source of both meat and animal products such as milk, cheese and eggs. All of these products were produced locally without the need to add harmful chemicals or preservatives.
In places near water such as near the ocean or near a large lake the diet also included fish. Fish are an important source of healthy protein. Fish eggs can also be used as food. In areas where there is a winter season the people learned how to preserve food saving it for winter consumption. They dried foods and later canned them for use during months when they could not find food readily on the land.
When grains are used they can be stored for later use. Grinding grains produces a substance that can be made into flour and used for many food products. Grains provide a healthy source of nutrients. Whole grains are particularly important for good overall health and well-being.
In days gone by the entire village participated in the growth and gathering of food. In fact this was the main goal of most people – growing food or keeping livestock that can be used to feed the family. Men traditionally hunted away from home while the women helped to gather local plant foods and prepared the food for consumption.
As in the past the best way to eat a healthy diet is to eat a diet high in fresh foods. Locally grown or produced foods are natural and don’t use preservatives in the processing. Fresh foods are easy to prepare using many various recipes. The local recipes are often the best since they were developed over a long period of time.
